hi, i’m Courtney
I grew up in the greater Raymond area, playing in Pawtuckaway State Park and spending lots of time roaming the woods and waters with friends. In 2012 I moved to Vermont to attend UVM where I received my bachelor’s in biology. Fast forward through a few years of travel and seasonal hospitality work, I’ve found lots of joy in working directly with people.
I’m an avid outdoors person, enjoying movement of all types. All that time spent monkeying around has led to plenty of muscle tension and lots of soreness. In my pursuit of wanting to feel better and keep doing more, I made my way to a professional massage therapy program in Vermont. There I received an excellent education that focused heavily on connecting with the whole person on the table. I strive to bring that attention and energy with me into every session.
In my free time I enjoy being creative and spending time outside with my family. A dedicated greeting card maker and cook, I love pretty much any hands-on task.
You’ll find me happiest wandering through the woods with my adopted dog, Tiny.
My Approach
While my thoughts and attitudes about wellness are always shifting, I believe deeply in the connection between the physical and mental. Feeling good (or bad) rarely stays isolated to one part of our lives. When life is easy breezy and stress free, I feel as though I could bike forever. When I’m feeling anxious - good luck. My back hurts just trying to bend over and tie my shoes. Chicken or the egg? I’m not sure, but I do know that feeling better in my body almost always makes me feel better in all the other areas of my life.
In the past few years, I have become more dedicated to slowing down and finding space to enjoy being embodied. Massage isn’t a magic bullet. Long held tension and adverse movement patterns weren’t built in a day and likely won’t be solved in one either. That said, just taking the time to tune in is often the first step to feeling some relief. We aren’t always made to be optimizing. Sometimes it’s just about taking the inventory of what ‘is’ and making small adjustments. I look forward to working with you to determine what the best course of action is - even if that just means one afternoon of taking the time for yourself.
